Boris Skalsky is a musician, recordist, and composer. He founded the band Dead Heart Bloom in 2006 and has since released 2 LPs and 3 EPs under that name (the 2 LPs were both nominated for the Shortlist Music Prize). He was also a founding member of the band Phaser, touring and performing with seminal 2000s artists such as Spiritualized, Grandaddy, Interpol, and Gomez. In 2009 Boris released a solo record, First Songs.

Having studied at the Manhattan School of Music, Boris has written and performed for the concert stage. Premieres of his works include two string quartets (the first of which received a BMI prize), art songs, numerous solo piano works, and an orchestral overture titled Memoriae.

His music has appeared in a number of TV broadcasts including NBC's Friday Night Lights, FOX's Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, FX's The Shield and the national drug awareness campaign Above The Influence, among others.

Ukrainian by birth, born and raised near Washington, D.C., Boris now lives, records, and produces music in New York.
