Solo RELEASE, “PROCESSION”
The third movement of a larger cello quartet suite, recorded live at the premiere. Commissioned by the Shevchenko Scientific Society and the Ukrainian Academy of Arts and Sciences to write a work in honor of Ukrainian poet Taras Schevchenko’s 200th anniversary, also a homage to the Ukrainian “Maidan Revolution.” Now in honor of friends and family in Ukraine, and all the innocent people who’s lives have been devastated by war. Solo Piano LP, “PASSAGES”
Passages is a series of simple, heartfelt ambient piano meditations written before and after the lockdown year of 2020. Written and recorded on a variety of keyboard instruments: acoustic, electric, virtual, and prepared - then mixed with electronics and ambience. Some of these pieces have been used in various media in the past and some are heard here for the first time. Contemplative and ethereal ruminations for our complex times.
BORIS SKALSKY: FADING PORTRAITS (SOUNDTRACK)
Soundtrack to the documentary “Fading Portriats.” A beatific aural backdrop with deep roots in ambient, electronic, and film music that artfully connects the visually stunning story of Iranian photographer Maryam Zandi’s struggle with authoritarian censorship. Soundtrack record released in 2019 on the Ephemeral Arts label.
